AkzoNobel, the parent company of Synteko recently announced that it will be closing the Pontiac, Michigan Decorative Paints manufacturing and distribution center by the end of this year. As a result, this will shift the production and distribution of Synteko-branded products from Pontiac to our Huron, Ohio campus.

Unfortunately, Synteko, and most of their distributors and retailers around the country are out of Synteko Super Clean Concentrate Floor Cleaner.

We are estimating that it is going to be at least Spring by the time we get it back in stock.

Dura Seal Water Based Hardwood Floor Finish

These new finishes complement our most popular wood floor finish, Dura Seal Water Based Hardwood Floor Finish, which is a single component ambering hardwood floor finish.

We have been working diligently on the new Chicago Hardwood Flooring Specialties location at 4453 N Elston Ave, Chicago, Illinois 60630 for the past few weeks. We are just about finished installing our new Chicago hardwood flooring showroom and will start sanding and finishing tomorrow!

The Showroom floor is a series of panels of differing hardwoods seperated by a 1 /2″ wide Brazilian Cherry Feature Strip. We have included American Walnut, Ash, Hickory, Rift and Quartersawn Red Oak, and Rift and Quartersawn White Oak from Indiana Hardwood Specialists, Maple in a variety of sizes and grades from Aacer Flooring, and Red and White Oak standards from Henry County Hardwoods.

This hardwood floor was installed on a concrete slab. A layer of 6mm plastic was laid down, and two layers of 3/8″ plywood were floated over it installed perpendicularly with 1/2″ spacing between them. The wood floor was then installed with 1 1/2″ Powernail PowerStaples.

Conventional handheld planers with straight knife cutterheads are both noisy and can leave chatter marks in the cut. These marks require sanding for a smooth surface. Festool planers feature single-knife spiral cutterheads that sheer-cut the material for a cleaner, smoother cut that is ready to glue or finish. This design also reduces noise levels associated with planing for less user strain and greater comfort.

Smooth cuts are just part of the story with Festool planers. When planing carcasses, trim, panels, or doors, the one-handed EHL 65 is both ergonomic, as well as powerful.
